The Remarkable Gardens

Le Jardin de Pellinec

Le Jardin du Pellinec, nestled at the bottom of Pellinec Bay, is conducive to the admiration of a wide variety of plants. The gardens have been designed according to the differences in soil to enhance the natural beauty of the vegetation.

The 4 hectares are divided into several themes: the exotic, Australian, English, Himalayan alley, and the water lily pond.

The quest for harmony in colors and patterns is ongoing, as well as the showcasing of the rarest plants!

Le Domaine du Kestellic

The Kestellic garden is a small piece of land far from the tumult of the world, a lush garden that captivates visitors seeking serenity. Nestled in a bend of the Jaudy estuary, just a stone’s throw from the open sea, Kestellic benefits from a multitude of natural influences that allow for an exuberant diversity and richness of plant life. Some find the atmosphere reminiscent of the shores of Italian lakes, while others catch glimpses of the Scottish countryside.

Like its first inhabitant who arrived by sea, the generosity of the place invites all its guests to create. Initially inspired by Orientalist designs, the manor later transformed into an Art Nouveau architecture while respecting the codes of Celtic residences. The streams, waterfalls, valleys, and natural amphitheaters personify, in the manner of 19th-century Romantic paintings, the forces and beauty of nature. The powerful vitality of the place, in perpetual motion, thus transforms the Kestellic estate into a living, boundless masterpiece.Le Domaine du Kestellic, covering an area of 6 hectares, overlook the Jaudy River with a steep slope. Natural Mediterranean vegetation can be found there, including strawberry trees, mulberries, myrtles, evergreen oaks, and cork oaks.

Many plants of diverse origins grow there outside their natural range and adapt well. The gardener, Patrice Bathiany, has skillfully improved the garden and enriched it by introducing new plants. A new project, already underway, involves the introduction of plants native to China, with the assistance and guidance of a botanist.

Significant structural work has been carried out, including paths, ponds, walls, water pipelines, and terracing.

Le Jardin du Grand Launay

In a garden certified as a “Jardin Remarquable,” a series of spaces unfold around a 17th and 18th-century peasant manor on uneven terrain, amidst springs and woods.

Throughout the garden, these spaces are accentuated by sturdy structures: fences, arches, low walls, straight or curved railings, belvederes, painted metal or concrete, standing slates, schist, granite. Everywhere, the trunks of shrubs, cleared of their lower branches and foliage, reveal, through their intricate shapes, the plantings in the background.

Throughout the garden, there are shrubs trimmed into topiaries: yews, boxwoods, honeysuckles, hollies, osmanthus, hornbeams, or beeches form distinct shapes, sometimes strict, sometimes supple, sometimes simple spheres, sometimes fantastical beings, sometimes clouds, and sometimes walls, tables, or windows.

A truly contemporary garden.
